İdris Küpeli, the CEO of Aydem Energy and the Chairman of Aydem Renewables has appeared as the guest of the Market Line Program presented by Güzem Yılmaz on Bloomberg HT on Wednesday, July 28.
Speaking about the Eurobond transaction accomplished by Aydem Renewables, which is the biggest amounted bond issue made at the first time as a single item in Turkey, Küpeli has said: With the participation of more than 130 investors, mainly from the USA and the UK, we have collected a demand of 1.6 billion dollars in our successful issuance. The nominal value of the bonds to be issued has been determined as 750 million dollars with a maturity of 5.5 years. The bonds shall be issued with a 3.5-year grace period and an interest rate of 7.75 percent. This transaction, which is the largest green bond issue in Turkey so far, is also the largest transaction accomplished by a renewable energy company in the CEEMEA (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) Region. Among our investors is the EBRD with a 10% share. 96% of our investors consist of long-term funds. This will affect the performance of the issuance in the next period positively. We are very happy.”
Conveying his plans regarding the revenue to be obtained from the bonds, Küpeli has stated, “We will pay off all of the debts of our company with the income to be obtained. With the remaining, our target is to organically double our installed power, which is over 1,000 MW, in the next 3 years and continue on our way. We will install a 240 MW solar power plant by the end of this year. By the end of 2022, we shall increase our capacity by 70% with a total increase of 695 MW. We aim to reach an installed capacity of 1,700 MW by the end of 2022. With these hybrid investments, we will prevent and overcome the problems of drought periods.”
