We have reached a total installed capacity of 1,216 MW by commissioning the final 6 MW turbine in the second phase of the capacity expansion project at our Uşak Wind Power Plant (WPP).
With the commissioning of the 6 MW capacity expansion investment at Uşak WPP, we have increased our total installed capacity to 1,216 MW and our wind installed capacity to 274.5 MW.
With the commissioning of the final turbine in the second phase of the Uşak WPP capacity expansion investment, we have also implemented what is, by project scale, one of the most comprehensive repowering projects in Türkiye. As part of the project, five older-generation turbines, each with an installed capacity of 1.5 MW, located in the most efficient areas of the site in terms of wind conditions, were relocated. They were replaced with new-generation turbines offering significantly higher installed capacity as part of the repowering project. This enabled us to make the most efficient use of the site's existing infrastructure from an energy efficiency perspective.
Uğur Yüksel, General Manager of Aydem Yenilenebilir Enerji, said the following regarding the capacity expansion: “As part of the second phase of our Uşak WPP capacity expansion project, we identified the turbines operating in the most efficient areas of the site in terms of wind conditions based on historical production data and AI-supported analyses. Five older- generation turbines, each with an installed capacity of 1.5 MW and located in the area with the highest production potential, were dismantled and relocated. In their place, five new- generation turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW and a combined installed capacity of 30 MW, were commissioned as part of the repowering project. This has enabled us to increase our production capacity in the most efficient area of our wind site using new-generation technology, while also optimizing the existing infrastructure in the most effective way.
The five older turbines that were relocated, together with one new turbine included in this phase, were moved to new locations where they can continue their power generation activities and were subsequently commissioned. Through the repowering project implemented as part of the planned capacity expansion, we expect the new-generation turbines positioned at more efficient locations to generate approximately 15 GWh of additional electricity annually. We expect this additional generation to provide an annual economic contribution of approximately USD 1 million to our Company.
This repowering project, implemented as part of a relocation project that is a first in our Company's investment planning, also stands out as an important example leading the way for energy-efficiency-oriented repowering applications in Türkiye.
We are delighted to have successfully commissioned the final turbine in the second phase of our Uşak WPP capacity expansion investment and completed this strategic project. As we continue our investments in renewable energy with determination, we will continue to contribute to Türkiye's energy independence and create value for a sustainable future.”
